I’ve always had somewhat of a soft spot for Quark. It was a quirky little CPU mined coin that launched with a very unique hashing mechanism, yet faded into obscurity in part due to how horribly it was managed. And yet here I am writing an article about it… Why, you ask?
Quark is up over 2000% during the past week. A lot of other coins have seen significant growth during this period as well, but most of those coins (SRC, PTS, to name a few) owe their growth to being listed on the chinese based BTC38 exchange, and the resulting influx of yuan. Quark is different in that it’s growth has been spurred by non-chinese sources.
So what’s been driving quark’s growth if not the chinese? Supposedly Bill Still (who I’ve admittedly never heard of, yet apparently has somewhat of a following behind him) has expressed interest in it. This could mean good things to come, if the hype is to be believed.
With rumors flying around that BTC38 is looking into adding quark, there’s still room for even more explosive growth. The chinese have altcoin fever right now, and are indiscriminately pumping money into any coin they can get their hands on. With the relative low cost per unit of quark, it could see some impressive growth should it get listed.
All things considered, I believe it to be worthwhile to hold a speculative stake of this coin at the moment. The coming days should be very interesting. You can buy Quark on Cryptsy
If you enjoyed this article, also check out my latest piece on StableCoin, another coin that I believe will experience similar growth.
Fair wirite up – well written !

reguards.
why the fuck would you buy this shit…. buy bitcoins, buy ripples…but dont buy shitcoins like quark
According to your write up on scamcoin I believe QRK meets that criteria. Total of 247 million QRK will be mined in ~ 6 months, after that ~ 1 million QRK p.a. (~ 0.5% p.a inflation). So its instamined with megablocks for 6 months, then pumped when only the early adopters hold any. Seems like one hell of a scam.
I respect that you give a “hard” opinion about coins, but you are not consisted in your opinion and perhaps can be even called a hypocrite. In your article about how to detect a SCAM coin you come hard on Megacoin, because it is perhaps instamined. Ok fair enough.. Yet 99% of all Quark coins have already been (insta)mined and you act all lovely about this coin??? According to your own rules, Quark is a scam coin, no matter what features it has or how fast the growth is.
A lot of my older articles (such as the megacoin one) were during a time period where the altcoin scene was stagnant. Long term prospects mattered a lot back then. Now, not so much. The market is crazy.
Hypocrite? No, just adapting to market conditions. Whether or not quark is a scam, the price was definitely going to increase… And there was plenty of money to be made on the ride up.
My end goal as a trader is, of course, to make money. Had I foresaw megacoin going from 2 cents to 2 dollars, you can bet your ass that I would have invested. You can also bet your ass that I would have sold off at the top, because that coin has no future. The market is a game; play it.
In the end its all about marketing and having a dedicated community. History has shown plenty of these examples. The coin that does this best will do well. And Mega and Quark seem to have good marketing machines behind them.
Nice post today as always. The main dev of quark, Max finally dropped some comments on the distribution issue. Might be good for quark in the long run do not be added on btc38 until the “scam” mark is gone, if it ever will be/should be.
Care to drop any comment on recent quark events or is it still too soon to say anything?
That istamining is good.
Look, BTC had a long “print your own money” fase. If you want to be a real currency, you should not be able to print your own money.
Get your coin on the market, add a bit of coins each day for inflation and you’ll maintain a steady value. BTC is as volatile as a PMS-ing woman.
Quark, however, will not be easily messed with. It will be better in taking blows from the market.
